Jason Livingston, LC, IES, IALD
As Principal, Jason establishes the direction for the overall planning and design of Studio T+L’s projects and remains intimately involved throughout the design and construction process. His expertise is in two fields: Lighting Design and Theatre Planning. As a theatre consultant, Jason has designed and managed projects from 99-seat black box theatres to 4,000-seat municipal theatres and everything in between. As an architectural lighting designer, his portfolio includes high-end retail to university libraries, and commercial offices to performing arts centers. His work has garnered awards from the Illuminating Engineering Society and project profiles in Lighting Design + Application, Lighting Sound America, Design Bureau, and Architectural SSL.
Jason is the author of Designing With Light: The Art, Science, and Practice of Architectural Lighting Design, 2nd Edition (Wiley, 2021). He is Co-Chair of the IES Color Committee and is a co-author of Lighting Science 5 - Color (IES, 2020) and Design Guide 1 - Color and Illumination (IES, 2017). He is also a speaker with Lighting Agora. In addition, Jason has been teaching architectural and theatrical lighting design in New York City since 1993. Jason holds a BFA in Theatre Arts from University of Miami and an MFA in Lighting Design from New York University. He is a member of Illuminating Engineering Society, International Association of Lighting Designers, and United States Institute for Theatre Technology. He is Lighting Certified by the NCQLP.
